(Orlando FL) Seasoned film and television actor JOHN AMOS received the prestigious Cinematic Icon Award at the 16th annual Orlando Film Festival in downtown Orlando November 3rd.
Mr. Amos was extremely warm and kind towards the fans who waited with him on the red carpet entrance of Theatre 7 at the CMX Cinemas Plaza downtown. Even other award winners from that night stood in awe as they timidly approached Mr. Amos for a photograph. Having been in numerous legendary films such as 'Coming to America', 'Die Hard 2', and 'The Beastmaster', coupled with his TV credits which amongst many included 'Good Times', 'Roots', 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show', and 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air', Mr. Amos' successful acting career has spanned more than 5 decades. Most recently, and part of the reason for his special recognition in Orlando this night stemmed from his filming of 'Because of Charley' in central Florida during the COVID-19 pandemic.
