D12 Foundation's 'Celebrity Bowling event'
11/12/11
(Orlando FL) Dwight Howard's Orlando-based charity, The D12 Foundation, was formed in 2010 "to change the lives of youth in American and International communities one day at a time." On the evening of November 12, 2011, Dwight and his D12 Foundation put forth a celebrity bowling event featuring several of Dwight's friends from the NBA. Attendees had the option to participate as a bowler, or participate as just a bystander watching all of the action from the sidelines.
This night was not about Dwight Howard. He signed no autographs this evening, and he took no photographs with any of the attendees. He did make sure, however, to greet as many people as he could, where his larger-than-life persona quickly showed it was much bigger than even his 6'11" frame could contain.
Howard was accompanied by present and former members of the Orlando Magic squad, and even had a friend of his from the Atlanta Hawks, Josh Smith, spend time with tonight's attendees.
Tonight, Dwight was funny, charismatic, and gracious. He is certain to be destined for greater things in his NBA career, but on this special evening Dwight reminded us that our focus needed to be positively influencing the lives of our children.
