(Orlando FL): With the opening of every new Microsoft store, one athlete and one musician will typically be on-hand to help celebrate the occasion; such was the case when Florida Mall opened its store this weekend. I was actually waiting in line to meet Dan Marino when one of the store employees asked me if I knew who Flo-Rida was. I nodded in affirmation, and he asked me if I knew about the upcoming concert, for which attendees had to have wristbands in order to attend. I told him that I was interested so he proceeded to go into the store. He emerged a few moments later with 2 wristbands and told me to come back on Saturday (after, of course, I met Dan Marino).
Flo-Rida's flight was apparently delayed by almost an hour. The crowd stood in the heat that only a black asphalt parking lot in Florida can produce. We waited and waited, and then his people started to appear. His 'Flo-Rida' microphone was brought out on stage. We were close. He's a big walking out onto that stage. Walking out with him is Stay C Reign, who does the background vocals for 'Wild Things' while they tour. He teased the crowd a few times offering to 'give away' some of his personal items (his scarf, his chain), but he never did. The crowd was lively and adrenaline was rushing because of his heavily-infused dance beats. Wait, what? Did he just come down into the crowd? He's performing in the middle of the crowd now. After a few minutes, one of his bodyguards picks him up onto his shoulders and carries him through the crowd back to the stage. Craziness! But in a good way! It was a very fun time.
