An Evening with Tony Bennett, a perfect Sunday night. -- by Lisa Bower
There are so many words that I can think to describe Tony Bennett but the one that stands out most is legendary. The show started with Tony's daughter, Antonia Bennett's beautiful soul filled voice. She took a moment to say how grateful she was to be able to work with her father each night before dedicating a song to him. Next, the voice of Frank Sinatra introduced Mr. Bennett to the stage while the entire room rose to their feet, clapping & cheering as he smiled and waved to the adoring crowd. At 90, most artists are enjoying retirement but not Tony Bennett, he is hitting the stage with open arms welcoming in the roar of his adoring fans. Bennett shimmied and danced never skipping a note all while belting out songs such as The Way You Look Tonight, I Got Rhythm and my personal favorite, I Left My Heart In San Francisco. From what I saw Sunday night, Bennett has no signs of slowing down and what a gift that is to the music world. Every person needs to experience the musical genius of Tony Bennett live to understand how his voice has been referred to as iconic, golden, classic but most importantly, legendary.
