(EPCOT, Lake Buena Vista) 'Heeee... just wants to fly...' And during EPCOT's Eat to the Beat concert series, Sugar Ray led by Mark McGrath soared into the Disney record books, as having performed for now their 9th straight year at the park (Sep. 24-26)!!
McGrath is amongst the most personable performers each year, and is easily one of the crowd favorites. Mark makes EVERYONE happy as he makes it a point to spend more than half of his show IN THE AUDIENCE!! That's right: he'll stand side by side, cheek to cheek with you as you attempt to remember how to take a selfie with your camera, while he sings into his microphone with his voice echoing through the speakers of the EPCOT amphitheater.
McGrath gives each set his all and, as a result, has to change out of his sweat-soaked shirts from set to set. But, he's super-entertaining, and exceptionally lively through it all. Probably the only moment that we didn't see the crowd on their feet is when Mark took a few moments to read a letter he had received from one of his fans in the audience. The fan had gone through a lot medically, and wanted to thank her husband through McGrath's acknowledgement... for a moment, Sugar Ray stopped playing their instruments, McGrath acknowledged the couple, read their letter over the speakers, then he stood by them while he sang and dedicated a song to them.
Sugar Ray, with McGrath as their frontman, is truly a class act. Looking forward to seeing them when they return for their 10th year as they continue to 'fly' amongst the hearts of all the Disney fans.
