(EPCOT, Lake Buena Vista) For more than 4 decades, Sheila E has been associated with nearly every major artist in the music industry, having either recorded her vocals to assist another artist, or having provided the drumming backbeats for another.
Sheila E performed made her first appearance at EPCOT's Eat to the Beat concert series just this year, and sent the crowd into uncontrollable fits of dancing for each of her 3 sets both nights (Sep. 22 - 23). Oftentimes referred to as 'The Queen of Percussion', much of the audience was mentally prepared to see her banging away on the drums. What caught many of them off guard were her lively funkadelic, and soul-moving vocals. She worked the stage, followed by her 2 backing vocalists, and big-band accompaniments onstage. With the crowd on its feet, Sheila donned her guitar and put on a master class showcasing how nimble and precise her fingers could be on the fretboard of the 6-stringed instrument.
Sheila E's performance was fun, and very lively, which made her fit right in with the rest of Disney's concert lineup this year. Although this was her first time to perform in the park, we certainly hope to see her included in the regular lineup from year to year.
