(Orlando FL): Katy Perry's 'California Dreams' tour roared into UCF Arena on June 11, 2011. My wife and I weren't really certain as to what we were expecting to happen that night. Katy came out wild, but in a good way. Now, there's no way that either of our 2 young daughters could have attended this concert with all of the sexual innuendos and connotations, but since the girls were at the grandparents' place we were able to relax and let all of the fun sink in.
Katy opened up with 'California Girls' and the party never looked back. She played just over 20 songs in all (including: 'Waking Up in Vegas', the sexually-charged 'Peacock', cover of Jay-Z's Big Pimpin', cover of Willow Smith's 'Whip My Hair', and cover of Whitney Houston's 'Dance With Somebody'). She ended the show with 'Firework'.
Going into the show I was nervous because I had heard that she didn't sound good live. Fortunately, I was misinformed! She was in pitch the entire evening! She rocked out on her power songs, and sang delicately during her ballads. Visually, you would be hard-pressed to find a show with more colorful / elaborate set designs, and she had enough costume changes to make Elton John proud. She engaged the crowd the entire time, and I soon found myself dancing to performances.
Although this one wasn't meant for young ones to attend, it was a really damn good time for the adults looking to relax and enjoy themselves. California Dreams in Orlando was a very enjoyable time!
