(Give Kids The World Village) Before a crowded gathering of Give Kids The World supporters, Pat Sajak -- the longtime iconic face of TV gameshow Wheel of Fortune -- took to the stage for an intimate fundraiser.
His career of over 40 years as Wheel of Fortune's game show host earned him the record according to the Guiness Book of World Records, once he surpassed the tenure of previous record holder, Bob Barker, for Barker's career on The Price is Right.
On this evening, Sajak held a very special VIP event during which he signed autographs and took photos with fans. He did seem to pay extra attention to the children in the line, oftentimes getting down on one knee in order to be eye-level with his youngest admirers. Following the VIP, additional guests joined the meeting space and enjoyed Sajak's recounting of memorable moments from the show, his sharing of his radio DJ career prior Fortune, and the mind-blowing fact that due to multiple show tapings in a day how he essentially worked less than a month each year!
Sajak was articulate, keenly sharp, and subtly humorous during his 90 minutes on stage. Guests were so caught up in the excitement, one pair of visitors burst out during the Q&A that 'would like to buy a vowel', citing one of the most common phrases from Wheel of Fortune.
It was a wonderfully insightful evening, and we would strongly encourage our readers to attend future events like this to support Give Kids The World.
