(Give Kids The World Village, Kissimmee FL) On Tuesday November 9 we attended media night for the 2nd annual “Night of a Million Lights” holiday decoration spectacular, getting a sneak-peak into the display that is scheduled to take place over the next 52 nights.
Much of what attracted tourists to the former “Osbourne Lights” at Hollywood Studios can now be found here on display, given the 3.2 million light donation from Walt Disney World last year. The 1.2 million feet of lights now cover 73 wish family villas, alongside 200 decorated Christmas trees, a 35-foot Wish Tree covered in 400 strands of lights alone, and a 30-foot long 12-foot tall welcoming archway at the beginning of the exhibit. In all, it took nearly 2 months to install this year’s spectacle.
New to this year’s display is the guided tram ride featuring the endearing voice of Jodi Benson (Disney’s The Little Mermaid), and the 21-villa dancing lights show set to music and GKTW wish children testimonials. Proceeds from Night of a Million Lights will make dream vacations come true for critically ill children. Since 1986, Give Kids The World has welcomed 177,000 wish families from all 50 states and 76 countries.
