(Kia Center, Orlando FL) Amongst all of the Disney magic felt in Orlando, the Kia Center was filled with enchantment beyond comprehension from the Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour. My Disney heart nearly exploded with joy from this immersion and tribute to the Descendants and Zombies movies. It was so refreshing to see Disney fans of all ages come together to celebrate our mutual love for these nostalgic movies. I was expecting to attend just a regular concert, but was blown away by the cast’s and production’s ability to instill magic in everyone’s hearts.
Right off the bat, Kia Center had transformed its stage to host the bigger-than-life energy of the set. With giant, inflatable iconic Disney logos of the “Z” in Zombies and the Descendants’ apple, fans were immediately able to transport into the world of Disney. This sparked large praises from the crowd, which grew throughout the night with each song, especially via the inclusion of the cast’s crowd interactions. All of the performers had spoken and introduced themselves to the crowd in the very beginning, which established a more personal concert. These young Disney stars constantly expressed their gratitude for these opportunities to perform, as well as for their large support throughout their rising careers. Even though they were big Disney stars, they took the time to connect to the audiences and were seen as humble people who were fortunate to obtain their paths. By doing this, the concert was immediately more intimate, as the crowd was now cheering for their friends rather than strangers. With the wide age range, the cast did a great job connecting older Disney fans to the younger fans with the use of including videos of their younger selves.
One of the most touching parts of the night was Kylie Cantrall’s montage of her earlier Disney days. Seeing her progression was not only nostalgic, but also spread an inspirational message to all. When she paused to express gratitude for playing Red, her sincerity shined through. Her reminder that “any dream you have, you can make it come true” was one of the most uplifting messages of the evening. Malachi Barton also took a heartfelt moment to share how grateful he was, admitting he was still in shock at where his journey had taken him. The theme of spreading light, creativity, and using your voice carried through the entire show, and really connected back to the famous Disney mindset where “dreams are wishes that come true.” Even when the pace slowed for a breather, the cast turned it into a mini-panel to talk about acting, which seemed to draw the crowd even closer.
Amongst all of the positive messages and empowerment, audience members could feel the genuine love of performing from the Worlds Collide cast. Their high energy soared throughout the night, never wavering even for a split second. From the high quality costumes to the complex choreography, the Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour showed up and showed out. There was no doubt that this show was crafted with anything but authentic Disney enchantment. The young stars highly praised their previous costars throughout the night, with each throwback song being performed to its greatest potential and honor. Mahlia Baker did a beautiful acoustic rendition of “If Only” from the first Descendants movie on her guitar. She tied the audience back to when this movie released in 2015, as she recalled herself belting her heart out to this very song upon its release. Getting to share this vulnerable moment with fans who grew up watching these movies was a full circle moment for all of us in the audience as well as Mahlia Baker as we sang our hearts out together. Following this love, Joshua Collier graciously shared an original song he wrote about the love he had felt on tour. Whether it was from the fans or within the cast itself, his song about “remembering this” moment and stopping time to appreciate life was a reminder to all about being grateful and present through everything. Each moment felt genuine, reminding the audience this wasn’t just a production; rather, it was a shared experience of creativity and gratitude.
The Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour proved that Disney charm doesn’t just live on-screen, it thrives onstage. Between the jaw-dropping production, the cast’s huge energy, and the endless moments of gratitude and fan connection, the show was more than entertainment. It was a reminder to dream big, spread light, and never be afraid to let your true self shine through. Orlando was lucky to host this stop, and if you get the chance to see this tour, take it, the magic is worth every second.
