(Amway Center, July 30 2019) Alessia Cara served as the opening act to Shawn Mendes' headline act at Amway Center, but demonstrated that she's big-name fully capable of being the headliner for her future shows.
Spunky and energetic, Cara danced and bounced on the stage while putting on an impressive vocal display. During her 10-song set, she sang 'Here', 'Wild Things', and 'Scars To Your Beautiful', all resurrected from her 2015 debut Know-It-All album. The former YouTube sensation has been compared vocally to powerhouse singing divas Rihanna and Diana Ross. But from the way she amazingly covered 'How Far I'll Go' (Disney, Moana), it doesn't seem that she she'll be shying away from any type of vocal comparisons, no matter how big a comparison it may be.
In previous interviews, Alessia stated her disdain towards wearing makeup and basically not wanting to be something that she was not. Hopefully she'll stick to that mentality as her natural talents and personality made for a very impressionable first live encounter with many of her fans in Orlando.
Great act... but I'm definitely looking forward to covering a future show of hers when she comes back as the headliner!!
